The number 222 is special for the Alkmaar singer-songwriter Dean Presley (19). He sees the number at important moments in his life. Being angel numbers, for him a sign that his grandmother Anita, who died on 22-2-2022, is close to him. It is therefore no coincidence that his new single ‘Someday Again’, a song about his grandmother, is released today on February 2. “I’m sure she would have loved it.”
We know the 19-year-old musician from his participation in the Regional Song Contest where he reached the final with his self-written song ‘Can’t wait until the summer’. Dean Presley’s major sources of inspiration are artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. He feels at home in genres such as soft rock and country,
Now he is busy writing songs for his EP. He is also supported by artists such as Diederik Nomden, including from the Beatle band The Analogues and Douwe Bob. “It’s great that such great artists find you worthwhile and want to help you along the way.”
The single ‘Someday Again’ is a tribute to his grandmother Anita, who chose euthanasia at the age of 65 after an illness. “I was strumming a tune right before a gig and said to the drummer, ‘This is cool!’ I quickly recorded this on my phone. When I got home I thought of my grandmother and wrote the text. It was finished within half an hour. I feel that grandmother is there.”
