A number of farmers are currently taking action on Dam Square in Amsterdam. According to a police spokesperson, farmers there are standing against the nitrogen standard and as a statement of support for the rest of the farmers in Europe. This concerns about sixteen tractors.
According to a police spokesperson, the protest is proceeding peacefully and there is good contact between officers and the farmers. Residents and road users are not inconvenienced by the protest. The farmers expect to leave again around 10 p.m.
Rest of Europe
Peasant protests are also taking place in the rest of the country and in Europe. In Belgium and France, the roads are full because farmers express their dissatisfaction with European agricultural policy.
