Heidi Foxell is in intensive care – Spouse opens up about the situation

Heidi Foxell underwent ovarian cyst surgery.

Wounded in the Hyvinkää shooting in 2012 Heidi Foxell has been in intensive care for several weeks.

Foxell said on his Instagram account a month ago that his body has developed a bad infection.

– The last time I was in worse shape was when I almost died of blood poisoning in 2018, he described.

In early January, Foxell announced that she had an ovarian cyst. Foxell hoped to have the cyst removed. However, the operation was a big risk. The doctors were not sure how the surgery could be performed.

– I’ve had about 50 open stomach surgeries and an incredible amount of scar tissue has remained. In addition, the mother lacks almost all normal tissues and muscles in the abdominal area, and this causes risks regarding the healing of the surgical area. It could very well be that the current skin graft would not improve to its former state and then we would have to face bigger problems. Full or partial new skin grafts would take weeks, months, or at worst years to heal.

During January, Foxell underwent cyst surgery.

Spouse of Foxell Nora has recently told more about the family’s situation. Noora says that she has noticed fatigue in herself.

– Now I’ve been walking through the power corridors every day for three weeks, even back. You don’t just march to power like that, you go there with a permit through mazes and a controlled route. When I went to see Heidi the first few weeks, I always started shaking a little on the way. It wasn’t the cold, but the tension of what was to come hit my body, Noora writes.

– Sometimes Heidi’s condition was much worse than I had thought and sometimes I went to the ER specifically to talk to the surgeons and ask them the most difficult questions of all. What’s next, what’s realistic to expect and what’s the worst case scenario. I often cried, if not on the way to work, then on the way back, he continues.

According to Noora, Foxell’s situation is currently “more stable and hopeful”.

– Heidi is still not feeling well and intensive care will continue for at least a while. The constantly present fear has begun to ease, and I’m no longer in survival mode, and that means that the tension that has persisted for over a month is beginning to dissolve as fatigue, Noora sums up.
