Cdon online store’s customer data has been leaked online. According to Ilta-Sanomi, there are almost a thousand Finns’ data in the group, for which a buyer is now being sought.
The information of customers of the Swedish-owned Cdon online store is traded online, news reports Evening News. According to the magazine, the database contains the information of 989 Finnish customers.
IS says that the database is traded on the discussion forum. The information shows the customer’s name, street address and zip code, phone number, price of the latest purchase, date of purchase and order number. According to IS, the most recent information is from Saturday, when the database appeared for sale on the forum.
Cdon’s data breach was not known to the authorities on Monday evening.
– Based on this information, customers who have recently placed orders for the service in question should be careful, Cybersecurity Center’s information security expert Sanna Autio told IS and also recommended to change the service password.
This is how the data can be used
Autio said that criminals can use the captured data for targeted package scam messages, for example.
The credibility of the scam is increased if the customer is known to be waiting for a package sent by Cdon. Providing payment card information or identifying yourself with bank credentials can lead to emptying the account.
