Last week it was reported that the king Charles was admitted to the hospital due to an enlarged prostate.
– Like thousands of men every year, the king has sought treatment for prostate hyperplasia, the spokesman for Buckingham Palace said.
It was said to be a benign problem that was treated with a “corrective measure”. Last week, the Princess of Wales also became public Catherine’s surgery in which the abdominal area was operated on. Now a surprising detail about Charles’ surgery has become public. The Sun magazine says that the king chose the same private hospital in London’s Marylebone as Catherine because he wanted to save money.
The king wanted to avoid double payment in security costs, and therefore did not want to go to a different hospital. If Charles had chosen to go to the King Edward Hospital favored by the royal family, for example, for a prostate operation, accompanied by his own security guards, this would have resulted in additional costs for taxpayers of approximately 18,000 euros.
During his reign, King Charles has taken it upon himself to shrink the monarchy and reduce the number of working members of the royal family for cost-saving reasons. The British newspaper OK wrote in October that there are no longer enough royals in the court for all representative duties.

The King and Queen are said to have visited Catherine’s hospital bed before Charles’ operation. It is atypical for Charles to take his spouse along on a trip to the hospital – the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip went to their hospital visits alone, says The Sun.
According to the British media, this is the first time that the king and the future queen are being treated in the same hospital at the same time.
