The stage is set for the first major biathlon event of 2024: A few days before the start of the World Championships in Nove Mesto, the European Championships will take place in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia. The 2024 European Biathlon Championships will take place in Brezno-Osrblie from January 24th to 28th. For many athletes it is the last chance to jump on the World Cup bandwagon. Some of the German team may also be secretly hoping for a World Cup ticket.
The DSV line-up for the competitions in Slovakia is certainly impressive. Julian Frühwirt, Julia Kink, Emily Schumann, Marion Wiesensarter, Marlene Fichtner and Stefanie Scherer are competing in the women’s category. The men are sending Lucas Fratzscher, Simon Kaiser, Darius Lodl, Leonhard Pfund, Linus Kesper and David Zobel into the race.
The program of the 2024 European Biathlon Championships
The European Championships start on January 24th with the two individual races. The men start the competition day at 10:30 a.m., the women at 2:30 p.m.
The two sprint races are on the program on Friday. The starting signal is given here at 11:00 a.m. (men) or 2:30 p.m. (women).
The two pursuit races continue on Saturday. The men start hunting from 11:00 a.m. and the women start hunting from 2:00 p.m.
At the end of the European Championships, two mixed relays are scheduled for Sunday. The 4x6km mixed relay starts at 10:45 a.m., the single mixed relay at 2:00 p.m.
