It is unprecedented how long Sonja Bakker lasted with Barry van Suijdam. Even assault, for which he was sentenced to sixty hours of community service, was initially not enough to put an end to it. Last year there was a final break: Sonja is no longer his lovely egg cookie.
Sonja breaks up with her
Barry is through now Privately spotted with another lady. He’s dating. “It’s been eight months since Sonja and I broke up. It was early summer in Ibiza. I felt like it was all still fun. There was no problem, no arguing or anything whatsoever. One day Sonja asked if we could talk for a moment.”
And then she broke up with me. “She no longer had ‘the’ feeling for me, she said. That came in, because this was the last thing I expected. Now I must say that during that period I was in the Netherlands a lot for work. (…) I was away more often than we were used to. As a result, we actually grew apart, that’s how I see it.”
‘The most beautiful thing ever’
Even though Barry is now dating another woman, he still misses Sonja. “Sonja is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me. I also think she is the woman I have loved the most. (…) We don’t have a fight, but the relationship is over.”
According to him, the contact has completely watered down. “I didn’t see her again after I left. I have been to Ibiza with my children, but I did not go to Sonja. I didn’t think it was appropriate, but I hope to see her again soon. We have been through a lot together.”
