Buddy Vedder almost off the tube

The agony is almost over for RTL 5. After five months of shooting ratings diarrhea, Buddy Vedder has almost disappeared from the picture with his completely flopped revival of Deal or no Deal.

Deal or no Deal used to be a successful game show full of flair, with Beau van Erven Dorens at the helm. Now Buddy Vedder has a hundred poorly watched episodes on it. The 100th broadcast was two weeks ago and since then some reruns have been broadcast. On Monday, RTL 5 can finally start rebuilding.

Fake Buddy

It’s no wonder that Deal or no Deal hasn’t scored at all for five months. Where Beau has a natural way of presenting, Buddy is mainly busy acting as a showmaster. It all comes across as very fake and the viewer can easily see through it. It has been zapping quickly for six months now when Buddy is in the picture.

Deal or no Deal also scored poorly yesterday: in the early evening there were 143 thousand people (2.6% market share), 113 thousand (2.3%). One thing is certain: Buddy has been the worst-scoring presenter of RTL for almost six months now.

End of agony

Fortunately, Buddy’s agony will come to an end on Monday, because then RTL 5 will set the same poor viewing figures with much cheaper content, namely Gordon Ramsay repeats in the early evening and 24 Hours in the ER repeats in the late evening.

Among those programs in the coming month, the daily titles Big Brother and 112 Today will be shown. Big Brother is also a megaflop – 259 thousand people (4%) watched yesterday – but RTL 5 still has to sit out that program for just under four weeks.

Dan takes gold

The Daan Schuurmans show Het Verhaal van Nederland was the big winner on prime time yesterday with more than 1.7 million viewers (30%). Immediately afterwards, Over My Body was shown, good for 1.1 million viewers (21%).

RTL 4 took silver with De Erfgenaam (883 thousand and 15%), but Art Rooijakkers was much less popular immediately afterwards: Rooijakkers over de Floor got stuck at 603 thousand viewers (11%). SBS 6 brought the combination Steenrijk Straatarm (623 thousand and 11%) and VI Today (777 thousand and 15%).

Furthermore, NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (734 thousand and 14%) and NPO 3’s Meiden Die Rijden (584 thousand and 10%) were most popular during prime time.

Viewing figures

Programs that did not reach the top fifteen viewing figures include VI Today (777 thousand), Lang Leve De Liefde (585 thousand), Hart van Nederland (578 thousand), Shownieuws (385 thousand) and HLF8 (336 thousand).
