“Stand Up For Ukraine”: Berlin clubs want to show solidarity with Ukraine

The Berlin clubs are finally allowed to open their doors again next Friday. But given the current crisis situation in Ukraine, is it even possible to party without a bitter aftertaste? In order to calm the consciences of some people, we say: Yes, you can. Because the Berlin club culture has set up a fundraising campaign in the name of solidarity with the Ukraine.

The relief campaign is to be entitled “Club Culture United – Stand Up For Ukraine”. It is up to the respective club how the generation of donations should look like. However, it should encourage all club culture actors, music venues, bars, collectives, labels, DJs to donate to those affected in Ukraine. The Berlin club scene also feels strongly connected to that in Kyiv.

The press spokesman Lutz Leichsenring of the Berlin Club Commission said: “Clubs are places of solidarity and political commitment. Artists and cultural venues in Ukraine are in a very precarious and life-threatening situation. Despite the major challenges after two years of the pandemic, it goes without saying for Berlin clubs that they are now organizing help.”
