The German biathletes are in the last race before the World Championships (February 7th – 18th). Nové Město) came away empty-handed. In the mass start race, the podium dreams in the standing shooting were dashed. The Norwegians were outstanding once again.
Vetle Sjästad Christiansen took the win. After a picture-perfect shooting and 20 direct hits on Sunday (January 21, 2024) at the heights of Antholz, the Norwegian won well ahead of his compatriots Johannes Dale (2 errors / + 10.7 seconds) and Vebjörn Sörum (1 error / + 14 s) . A total of five Norwegians finished in the top six. Only Quentin Fillon Maillet from France finished fourth and prevented the outstanding Norwegians from achieving a five-fold success.
The six German ski hunters who started came away empty-handed. Justus Strelow and Johannes Kühn were doing very well in the race until the halfway point with ten direct hits and were looking for the next top result. One mistake (Strelow) and two mistakes (Kühn) at the first standing attack shattered all dreams. In the end, one day after his first World Cup victory, Strelow was the ninth best German in the single mixed relay together with Vanessa Voigt.
