FC St. Pauli regained the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga with a win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Coach Fabian Hürzeler’s team won 2-0 (1-0) on Saturday in front of 29,546 spectators in the sold-out Millerntor Stadium. Elias Saad (34th minute) and Marcel Hartel (64th) scored for St. Pauli. For Kaiserslautern it is the seventh league defeat in a row.

Hamburg started extremely energetically, but didn’t take advantage of their first chances. On the other side, Marlon Ritter (5th) was denied by St. Pauli keeper Nikola Vasilj, who reacted brilliantly. Saad then gave the Hanseatic League a deserved lead. The game was accompanied by renewed protests against the German Football League’s investor plans. The audience remained quiet for the first twelve minutes, but shortly afterwards fans from both camps threw small objects onto the pitch and caused a short interruption.

Jan Elvedi (56th) also failed, while Oladapo Afolayan (58th) only hit the post on the other side. In an extremely entertaining phase of the game, Hartel scored to make it 2-0.

1. FC Nürnberg had no problems against Hansa Rostock thanks to Uzun

Thanks to storm jewel Can Uzun, 1. FC Nürnberg got off to a dream start in the second half of the season and Mersad Selimbegovic spoiled his debut as coach of Hansa Rostock. With a brace in the 15th and 36th minutes, teenager Uzun was the man of the game in a 3-0 (2-0) win in front of 27,763 spectators. After a nervous start, the Franconians convincingly celebrated their eighth win of the season in the 2nd league against Rostock, who were harmless on offense.

In striker Sebastian Andersson’s promising debut, Jens Castrop (51′) took any explosiveness out of the Nuremberg home game with his goal shortly after the break in frosty temperatures. Coach Cristian Fiél’s team can move further up the table, but the Rostock team slipped from relegation place 16 to direct relegation place 17.

Fiél chose Carl Klaus in goal over long-time number one Christian Mathenia. Winter newcomer Andersson was allowed to start in the storm. The Swede, who was recently without a club, recommended himself as a starting point, but had bad luck with two headers (22nd, 45th + 1). When he was substituted after 70 minutes, Andersson was greeted with applause by the Franconian audience.

Uzun had basically already made everything clear for the “club”. First he scored a wonderful goal almost out of nowhere when the 18-year-old scored with his right from the left edge of the penalty area. He then quickly intercepted a throw-in from Alexander Rossipal and sank it again in an ice-cold manner. They were his seventh and eighth goals of the season. Castrop then increased against harmless guests.

Hannover 96 leads in Elversberg and still almost loses – Tresoldi scores twice

Second division promoted SV Elversberg stopped its series of defeats and fought for a draw at the start of the second half of the season. The Saarland team drew 2-2 (0-1) from Hannover 96 on Saturday and celebrated winning a point again after three recent defeats. The guests from Lower Saxony, on the other hand, remained without a win for the sixth game in a row and, like Elversberg, are stuck in the middle of the table. Nicolo Tresoldi scored the goals for Hannover (8th minute/69th). Jannik Rochelt (57th) and Frederik Jäkel (60th) scored for Elversberg.
