The public prosecutor’s office is seeking a prison sentence of several years for the clan boss.
The trial against Arafat Abou-Chaker and his brothers is coming to an end after 112 days of trial. The public prosecutor’s office explained in its plea on January 16th what punishments it considered appropriate. Bushido acts as a co-plaintiff and a kind of key witness in the proceedings.
Thrown at with a plastic bottle and a chair
According to the Berliner Zeitung, the public prosecutor’s office accuses the Abou Chaker brothers of deprivation of liberty, attempted aggravated extortion, coercion, grievous bodily harm and embezzlement.
The main crime in the proceedings is said to have occurred on January 18, 2018. Bushido wanted to separate from his long-time business partner. When he made this decision, he threw a plastic bottle and a chair at him and demanded unauthorized payments from the musician.
Thereafter, there were several meetings between the defendants and the co-plaintiff, during which the brothers were said to have intimidated the rapper, according to the indictment.
Prosecutors are seeking prison sentences
The clan leader now faces four years and four months in prison for these crimes. The senior public prosecutor in charge expresses no doubts about the veracity of Bushido’s statements.
If the court considers a fine to be appropriate, the public prosecutor’s office will suggest a “daily rate of 2,500 euros”, according to “HipHop.de”. This means that the judiciary estimates the monthly income of Bushido’s ex-manager at over 70,000 euros.
Prison sentences are also being sought for the brothers who are also accused. Accordingly, the public prosecutor’s office is demanding a sentence of two years and one month for Yasser Abou-Chaker, a sentence of seven months for Nasser Abou-Chaker and a sentence of one year and six months for Rommel Abou-Chaker. In addition, the public prosecutor considers the suspension of sentences on probation for Nasser and Rommel Abou-Chaker to be appropriate.
The last day of the trial is scheduled for January 26th, and “Bild” writes that the verdict will now be announced on February 4th.
Arafat Abou-Chaker appeals against Bushido
After the Berlin Regional Court found at the beginning of September 2023 that the clan boss was not a manager for Bushido, which is why he granted the rapper a repayment of 1.8 million euros plus interest, he appealed against the decision. The case is now to be heard before the Berlin Court of Appeal.
