Frederik X is the new ruler of Denmark.
Denmark experienced historic moments on Sunday, when the country’s 52-year ruler Margaret II abdicated.
He was replaced as the formal head of state Frederickwho will use the ruler name Frederik X in the future.

Queen Margareta signed the declaration of abdication in the afternoon at the Christiansborg Castle in Copenhagen during the session of the Government.
After this, it was the turn to be proclaimed king. It happened on the balcony of Christiansborg Castle, where the prime minister Mette Frederiksen proclaimed Frederik king as the crowd cheered. Fredriksen called the citizens to shout hurray several times.
The king was clearly moved. He seemed to be saying “wow” to the Prime Minister as the crowd roared so wildly.
Frederik’s own speech lasted several minutes.
– My mother will forever be remembered as a great ruler. He managed to unite the nation. I hope I can do the same, Frederik said.
At the same time, he told his royal motto.
– United, committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark.
After this, his wife Mary and the children of the family came to the balcony and the audience roared and cheered loudly.
The ruling couple even got excited to kiss. Towards Amalienborg Castle, the royal couple left in the same horse-drawn carriage that the couple used for their wedding. The children followed in cars.
On the balcony of Amalienborg, their residence, they waved to the citizens again. Denmark had entered a new era.
