Skating in his first adult competition Nella Pelkonen experienced a big disappointment at the European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas.
Saturday started with the women’s free program. 18-year-old Pelkonen was not at her best on the ice and moved to wait for points. Yle’s broadcast showed how she burst into inconsolable tears immediately when the score of 87.41 flashed on the screen.
The ranking collapsed, as Pelkonen fell to 14th in the overall results.
The competition is still ongoing. Another Finnish skater Emmi Peltonen is seventh.
