Spain exceeds 100,000 deaths from covid since the start of the pandemic

  • Health has notified this Wednesday a drop in the incidence of almost 30 points to 486

The autonomous communities have notified this Wednesday the Ministry of Health 18,803 new cases of covid. These figures are lower than those of the same day last week, when 33,911 positives were reported, which shows the downward trend in the evolution of the pandemic.

The total number of infections in Spain it already rises to 11,054,888 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The accumulated incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 486.34, compared to 515.10 yesterday. In the past two weeks, a total of 230,455 positives have been registered.

Added to this Wednesday’s report 154 new deaths, compared to 301 last Wednesday. Likewise, up to 100,037 people with a positive diagnostic test have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to data collected by the Ministry. In the last week, 333 people with a confirmed positive have died in Spain.

Currently there 6,188 patients admitted and positive in covid throughout Spain (6,478 yesterday) and 902 in the ICU (962 yesterday). In the last 24 hours, there have been 548 admissions (609 yesterday) and 778 discharges (876 yesterday). The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus stands at 4.99% (5.23% yesterday) and in ICUs at 9.86% (10.47% yesterday).

Between February 20 and 26, the autonomous communities have carried out 668,895 diagnostic tests, of which 341,341 have been PCR and 327,554 antigen tests, with an overall rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 1,422.39.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate stands at 17.06%, compared to 17.18% yesterday. But the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that this data be found below 5% to consider the spread of the virus as ‘controlled’.
