The municipality of De Wolden is investigating whether an energy hub is possible in Koekange. This is a place where parties can generate, store or transport energy together. The municipality believes that the old NAM location along the Oshaarseweg is the most suitable.
The adjacent sand extraction location is also looking for a new place to expand. That could possibly be possible there too. De Wolden has therefore decided to conduct research for the entire area into both the arrival of an energy hub and additional space for the sand extraction location.
The municipality says that local residents were informed during three consultation evenings. “A plan of action was thus drawn up that was approved by both residents and professionals,” can be read in a press release from De Wolden.
The mayor and aldermen have now approved the plan. A study is currently underway to see whether it is feasible.
