The cash registers of bars and restaurants have been happily clinking in recent days in Gothenburg. The locals are on vacation, and the World Youth Hockey Championship tournament has brought an estimated 5,000 Canadian hockey fans to the city.
There have been around 3,500 Canadians on organized travel agency trips alone. On top of that are self-employed travelers and Canadians living in Sweden.
Finnish hockey fans can also be seen and heard in Gothenburg’s villages. The Swedes are also excited to encourage their own.

The Canadians have said that the price level in the competition city is a bit high. For Finns, for example, soft drinks are reasonably priced.
In the Scandinavium hall, a local 0.4 liter pint of Norrlands costs less than eight euros. You can get a bottle of Heineken for 7.40 euros. However, it is worth noting that in Sweden, ice hockey matches – as in other sporting events – may sell a maximum of 3.5% alcoholic beverages.

If you want to enjoy a small drink during the game, the vertical bar in the Scandinavium hall sells 4 centiliters of Jägermeister for 9.40 euros.
For 12.60 euros you get a half-liter pint and popcorn. A pint and a beer together cost 9.40 euros.
