Danny Blind was today officially appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board (SB) of Ajax. The 62-year-old former footballer was introduced during a shareholders’ meeting in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
Ajax let us know. Blind will remain a member until November 2027. He was also a member of the Supervisory Board from April 2018 to August 2021.
Blind indicated in the meeting that he will have a monitoring role, but also an advisory role where necessary. “We as a supervisory board are not only about the money, but also about the process of the transfer,” Blind told Ajax Showtime. “Is a transfer suitable for the selection or are we already prepared for that? Or is a youth player suitable for that? That is the role of the supervisory board. To look at this in a supervisory manner and to give serious advice where necessary. That is how I see it.”
Blind was previously a player and captain at Ajax. He later held several technical and managerial positions at the club.
Ajax also announces that Alex Kroes has now been formally appointed as general manager by the Supervisory Board. As previously announced, he will start on March 15, 2024.
