Not every Christmas tree can be decorated with golden balls, red streamers or flickering lights in rainbow colors. Nor with a peak on top or great gifts under its branches. Yet sometimes those ‘Christmas babies’ also find a place in someone’s home. The tree is bare, barren, asymmetrical or tiny, but in all its ugliness it is actually quite beautiful, according to these Flemish people. “Our tree is especially not like that in the books.”
