The Senators ran out of patience with DJ Smith. The NHL club Ottawa Senators announces that the contract of DJ Smith, who started as the team’s head coach in the summer of 2019, has been terminated. In his place, Jacques Martin, who served as the club’s advisor, and who also commanded the Senators between 1995 and 2004, will be the temporary manager. At the same time, the club announces that former Swedish player Daniel Alfredsson, one of the club’s legends, will come to support Martin in the role of assistant coach. Alfredsson has been with the club this season as a development coach.
