In fifteen days the time will come: Eva Jinek will no longer be under contract with RTL. In the meantime, she is happily working on her Boulevard killer. “That is of course very bitter.”
Preparations for Eva Jinek’s new seven-hour talk show on NPO 1 are in full swing. It will start after the summer and after years there really seems to be a worthy replacement for De Wereld Draait Door. But it also means a dangerous competitor for other seven-hour titles, which are still having a relatively easy time with Khalid & Sophie.
Brod revenge
One of the titles that will inevitably suffer from Eva is the success of RTL 4: the evening show RTL Boulevard. And that means sweet revenge, because the presenter absolutely hates Bridget Maasland and Rob Goossens, two important faces of the program. According to Eva, they deliver ‘shoddy work’.
Eva wants to knock out Bridget and Rob later, but is already training. And that is salient, according to the infamous media expert Victor Vlam. Very salient. “I was told that she is already recruiting editors for the program that starts in September 2024,” he says in the podcast The Communicados.
tons per month
You really can’t start early enough with that, says Victor. “That’s because they all want the best editors, but what I find remarkable about that is that Eva Jinek is of course still under contract with RTL until December 31. She has a contract reportedly worth 1.2 million euros per year.”
He continues: “In other words, every month she receives a hundred thousand euros into her account from Peter van der Vorst. She is paid very generously, even though she is already busy designing a competitive program at seven o’clock. In fact, Peter van der Vorst is currently paying her to develop a competitive program.”
A bit bitter
Eva is working on her Boulevard killer at the expense of RTL. “That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it? Legally it will all be covered. It will be the production company, MediaLane, that is working on this. I also understand that the editor-in-chief of the new Jinek, that is Marnix van Egmond, is mainly concerned with this.”
Yet you can see this as Eva’s war against Boulevard, sponsored by the enemy himself, according to Victor. “I can imagine that Eva is not calling people herself. In that sense it is accepted, but it is of course unfortunate that preparations are underway, because again: that means that RTL pays Eva Jinek to develop their competition.”
Important time slot
RTL Boulevard is currently scoring really well, but that could change after the summer. “Seven o’clock is a very important time slot, because it also includes RTL Boulevard and RTL News. RTL obviously has a great interest in ensuring that those programs do not suffer too much damage from Eva Jinek.”
Victor fears the worst for Boulevard. He believes in great success for Eva. “I think she will really attract a million viewers. I think she will make it happen.”
