The Würzburg Baskets have defeated a direct competitor in the fight for a place in the BBL playoffs. There was a clear 97:78 (46:27) win against Baskets Bonn on Saturday (December 16, 2023).
The Würzburgers are still only ninth, but they only have ten games under their belt and can still surpass Bonn. The previous season’s Champions League winner has won seven of its twelve games so far, Würzburg celebrated its sixth success and therefore has a better win rate.
Otis Livingston II was the best man on the floor with 21 points and seven assists, but five other teammates also scored in double figures. Only Noah Kirkwood (18 points) and Savion Flagg (17 points, six rebounds) were able to convince Bonn.
Chemnitz continues to be at the top
The Niners Chemnitz continued their winning streak and celebrated their tenth win of the season in the eleventh game. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team easily beat the new bottom-placed MLP Academics Heidelberg on Saturday evening in their own hall with 93:69 (53:34) and thus maintained their lead in the table.
With 10:1 wins, the Saxons are ahead of champions ratiopharm Ulm (8:2), who will play against cup winners Bayern Munich on Sunday (December 17, 2023). Heidelberg was only able to keep up in the first six minutes of the game, then the hosts pulled away. Center Kevin Yebo and Wesley van Beck each collected 17 points, while Vincent Kesteloot (15) scored best for the guests.
In the third game of the day, RASTA Vechta achieved its seventh win in its eleventh game thanks to a comeback. At BG Göttingen, the newcomer won 90:86 (37:46) after a strong second half and remains on course for the playoffs.
