‘If Maxime Meiland makes this up, she is really ill’

René van der Gijp thinks that Maxime Meiland is mentally ill if she actually made up her rape story. “But believe me: that happens,” notes Hélène Hendriks.

Maxime Meiland kept quiet about it for a long time, until she had a book to sell: the terrible things that, according to her, happened in her youth. She says she was raped by a peer at the age of 15, never reported it, but now talks about it everywhere. In books, in programs with a glass of champagne in her hand, etc.

Wilfred skeptical

Since Maxime is known for being conceited and unbelievable – she previously lied during the penguin riot and about Anna Nooshin – there are many people who doubt her claims. Especially because she never reported the crime and her alleged victim has now decided to report libel and slander.

Wilfred Genee has strong doubts about his SBS 6 colleague Maxime, he shows Today Inside. “Could this be an example of what you sometimes talk about at this table? That as a man you can of course be accused freely?”

Spanking

Johan Derksen: “That’s the problem. Look, if Mrs. Meiland is making this up from her thumb and is only saying this to have a nice story in a book, well, then she really deserves a spanking. It’s really scandalous. If she charges one of the three of us tonight, you will be on all the front pages tomorrow and you will be damaged for life.”

René van der Gijp: “Friends simply took note of it and were there.”

Johan: “Then you are lucky that you have witnesses, because often there is no one there, right?”

Bizarre story

Wilfred finds it all very suspicious. “It’s quite a bizarre story, if you look at it that way.”

René: “It’s a bizarre story, for sure.”

Wilfred: “But you wouldn’t come up with something like that, would you?”

Johan: “I think it’s very, very angry when you do something like that. That is not possible.”

Hélène Hendriks: “You get that now. So the question is whether it is so. For the same money, it is not true at all and what is stated in the book is correct. You do not know.”

‘Then you are ill’

René takes into account that Maxime is mentally ill. “That’s so sweet darling, but you agree with me: if you make it up, then you are sick. Then you are really sick.”

Hélène: “But believe me: it happens.”

Wilfred: “You mean that it is made up?”

Hélène: “Yes, of course.”

Wilfred: “She would have been better off reporting it at the time, you would think, in such a case.”

Johan: “No, it only became relevant when a book came out.”

Gentleman at the table

Maxime’s alleged victim wants to join VI. Wilfred: “We try to be cautious about it. We could possibly receive that gentleman here, but we won’t do that at the moment. We’ll just wait and see what’s going on, right?”

Johan: “If that gentleman wanted to sit here – and he does, because that lawyer has registered – then he is very aware of… That he did not do it.”

Lots of bullshit

Wilfred feels sorry for the man in question. “I think the man is 28, has an immigrant background and I think he has a good job. He has the feeling that if he wants to start a family of his own and this continues to haunt him, he will face a lot of hassle. It is quite harmful for that man.”

Johan: “Well, very harmful. Look, that’s going to trickle down and you won’t get a job anymore.”

Wilfred: “He has a very good job.”

Johan: “Yes, but a boss like that can also say… If you have a somewhat woke-like boss, then you are already outside. (…) It’s just a matter of scoring to get a successful book.”
