While picking up a container on Saturnusstraat in Oss, a garbage collector saw something very strange in the space below. It turned out to be a small hamster that was having trouble keeping warm.
The hamster must have been under the container for a while, the animal ambulance suspects. He had clearly done his best to get through the winter there. “In the small corners of space he had there, he had already made nests to stay warm,” says the animal ambulance. A photo shows that the animal has put all the dirt in the room in the corners.
The garbage man managed to save the animal and called the animal ambulance. The hamster has been transferred to the Maashorst Shelter. Considering the circumstances, the animal is now doing well. According to the emergency service, he is tame and curious.
“We have great garbage collectors in Oss.”
The only question remains how the hamster ended up under the container. “We hope it is a runaway hamster. Then the owner can report to the shelter. But he could also have just been dumped.”
According to the animal ambulance, the rescuer in need is in any case a hero. “We have great garbage collectors here in Oss. This is the second animal that owes its life to these heroes this year.”
