VZV had a dip in the first half against HV Volendam, but was ultimately too strong: 32-24. Thanks to the victory, the team from ‘t Veld continues to follow in the footsteps of leader Venlo.
VZV got out of the starting blocks and it looked like they were going to have a simple evening against a tame playing Volendam. The visitors were sloppy and were already trailing halfway through the first half: 12-5. Due to the large deficit, trainer Zsigmond Makay was forced to request two early timeouts. That ultimately resulted in the right effect, as Volendam fought back to 18-16. Jaimy Mens was important with eight goals before half time. She eventually also became top scorer with eleven points.
In the second half VZV again showed its qualities. The gap with Volendam grew quickly. Carmen van der Kroon’s penalty shots were important. VZV also proved to be conditionally stronger than Volendam in the final phase and thus achieved a big victory: 32-24.
Leader Venlo
The victory keeps VZV at the top of the Premier League. The team of coach Edwin Janssen is in third place and is only two points behind leader Venlo. Next week VZV will visit Venlo. Volendam is in ninth place, a place that means the relegation group at the end of the regular competition.
