Ponomarenko decided to step down as chairman of the board of directors of Sheremetyevo

Alexander Ponomarenko announced that he was resigning as chairman of the board of directors of Sheremetyevo International Airport.

“On February 28 this year, I was included in the EU sanctions list. In the rationale for the decision of the Council of the EU, a real estate object in Gelendzhik is indicated, in relation to which I have repeatedly commented to Russian and foreign media that I left this project in 2016, did not participate in its financing and have not been related to it since. I’m also not even familiar with S.V. Aksyonov and never met him, ”the press service of Sheremetyevo conveyed the words of Ponomarenko.

Ponomarenko was on the sanctions list of representatives of Russian politicians and businessmen, against whom the EU imposed sanctions on February 28. “Mr. Ponomarenko has close ties to other oligarchs associated with Vladimir Putin, as well as Sergei Aksyonov, the leader of the so-called Republic of Crimea <...>,” follows from the grounds.
