The construction of the new marine barracks in Nieuw-Milligen is being delayed. This is because there is too high so-called nitrogen deposition, or the precipitation of nitrogen on the soil. The planned tender of December 12, 2023 cannot therefore start.
It is difficult to estimate how long the delay will last. Defense takes into account at least a year.
Defense needs more nitrogen space for the preparation activities at the new barracks. Procedures now have to be completed to obtain this permit.
Defense is in discussions with the province of Gelderland and the municipality of Apeldoorn about a solution.
