Phihezo Sports and Games Foundation has received the Compliment of Drenthe 2023. In addition to this appreciation, she will receive an amount of 3,000 euros, with which the foundation can do something extra.
The prize was presented by deputy Yvonne Turenhout in the provincial government building in Assen. The province wants to put volunteers in the spotlight with ‘The compliment from Drenthe’.
In addition to Stichting Sport en Spel Phihezo, Bij de Buren, Heppie Smilde, COA Hosts and Petje Af Zuidoost-Drenthe also had a chance to win the prize. They received an incentive bonus of 500 euros and were nominated from 74 volunteer organizations. These were chosen based on the theme of equal opportunities. Sports and Games Phihezo has been committed to giving people with intellectual and/or visual disabilities in Hoogeveen and the surrounding area access to sports and games since 1976. A team of 140 volunteers is committed to guiding the 120 participants one-on-one with the activities. In the jury report of Hét Compliment van Drenthe, the jury states that this group of volunteers pays a lot of attention to equal opportunities.
