You have fans and you have superfans. Yesterday, despite the mini-match of ten minutes and 15 seconds, almost 300 Ajax supporters went to Waalwijk to cheer on their club. “It is the love of our lives. We win all the matches, including this.”
Ajax wanted to make it clear to the supporters that traveled with them that they appreciated it. They therefore received a scarf with the text ‘six minutes for our club from Amsterdam’. A parade on the popular supporters’ song that is sung at matches. “The fact that you drive three hours to watch ten minutes of football is actually idiotic,” says one of the fans we spoke to in Waalwijk.
The fans who traveled along made it a great party. There was loud singing during the match and also afterwards, when the players came to thank them for their support. “It was fun, we had more atmosphere than last weekend against NEC.”
And not unimportantly, Ajax managed to maintain its lead and is once again looking up in the Premier League in sixth place. “We won, three points in the bag,” says a visibly relieved supporter. He also had three ten euros in the bag, Ajax transferred 30 euros to every fan in the away section as compensation for travel costs incurred.
