The RTL 4 contractor Bob Sikkes does not exactly exploit his celebrity status to the fullest. For example, he turned down a lucrative job at RTL Boulevard. What is the reason for that?
Many people who suddenly become famous through a TV program try to make the most of it with all kinds of TV appearances and commercial activities, but for Buy Without Watching star Bob Sikkes it is slightly different. For example, where we regularly see his colleague Roos Reedijk in RTL Boulevard, we don’t see Bob anywhere.
Not in Boulevard
How exactly does that work? Bob explains it in the Weekend. “I have been asked to appear on RTL Boulevard and various talk shows. I’m fine with it when it concerns topics that are directly related to my work. But not to chat a bit about the housing market. That’s not what I’m about, I’m not a financial man or a real estate agent.”
And Bob doesn’t want to be judged by that either. “I’m very hesitant about that, I don’t want to be the chattering contractor who just talks about everything. And who, if you’re lucky, can also say something about corona. I don’t need that.”

But if he goes to RTL Boulevard, he can only talk about his own field, right? “Yes, but before you know it you’re talking about Brad Pitt’s new house, so I’m not going to do that. And Roos is doing very well there.”
No, Bob just wants to stick to his own things. “I am also regularly asked for presentations or for the construction fair, but then I also think: I’ll stick to my company and TV work, that’s enough for me.”
