A major fire broke out in a detached house in Middelie this afternoon. A lot of smoke was released. The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
The fire broke out in a house in Middelie on the street of the same name. The fire caused a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles around. A fire brigade spokesperson said no one was in the house at the time of the fire.
The fire is now under control. Nevertheless, a spokesperson for the Zaanstreek-Waterland safety region calls on people not to come and watch and to give emergency services space.
The damage is currently being assessed. Nothing is currently known about the cause of the fire.
The street is temporarily completely closed.
