Geoffrey van Leeuwen (VVD) will become Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation with effect from Monday, December 4, 2023. Van Leeuwen is responsible for temporarily filling the position in connection with Liesje Schreinemacher’s maternity leave.
Van Leeuwen previously worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked, among other things, as Dutch ambassador to Afghanistan, consul general in Mumbai and director of the Middle East and North Africa at the ministry. Van Leeuwen is currently an advisor on Foreign Affairs and Defense at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of General Affairs.
Van Leeuwen will be sworn in before the King at Noordeinde Palace on Monday, December 4, 2023.
