There is a wealth of authors XXIII edition of the City of Books, an event organized in Campi Salentina, in the Lecce area.
Founded in 1995, the City of Books was defined in 2008 as “Best Italian event for the promotion of books and reading” by the “Centre for books and reading” of the Ministry of Culture.
The literary event returns six years later, after the three-year period of Covid and a restyling operation, and includes 74 appointments, 14 workshops and 120 authors involved.
“Culture (that) changes” is the theme of the City of Books
The XXIII edition was entitled “Culture (that) changes” and presents itself as inclusive, sustainable, multimedia and multi-expressive. As a symbol of the event, a large bright moon in Piazza Libertà. To remind readers of a symbol of knowledge and cultural longing.
Sustainability because, to limit the use of paper, you will be able to consult them a lot the map as well as the program of the event through the QR codes on the posters.
«This edition is even more significant because symbolizes the resilience and determination of our town in supporting culture, aeven in difficult times. In fact, we are starting again with the ambitious objective of relaunching this important project which has made great progress over the years Campi Salentina is a cultural center of reference for the entire territory» explains Alfredo Fina, mayor of the Municipality of Campi Salentina.
A “widespread” City of Books
However, the novelty of this edition will be the places that host the event, no longer hosted at the Campi exhibition center but “spread” throughout the historic center of the city: the Excelsior cinema-theater, recently renovated and named after Carmelo Bene with the Pinocchio installations created by the maestro Stefano Conticelli, Piazza Libertà and its churches – Santa Maria delle Grazie and Sant’Oronzo – the “Don Pietro Serio” room, the Pastoral Center, the area of the Gardens of Casa Prato.
There are many sections, from digital to fiction. There will be one dedicated to the graphic novel, created with the Lecce comic school “Lupiae Comix” (Grafite group), as well as the “Food & Book” space, dedicated to the discovery of lost flavours, where with chef Giorgio Falconieri will renew the history of many Salento dishes, prepared together with the writer Massimo Vaglio. Also guest of the Città del Libro was Luca Pappagallo, one of the most loved chefs on the web thanks (but not only) to the recipe portal Casa Pappagallo.
