Despite the stress on his national soccer players, coach Thomas Tuchel made no substitutions in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win at 1. FC Cologne – as the first coach of the Bundesliga season.
“We were so good in the game, we controlled it completely,” said Tuchel on “DAZN,” “I didn’t want to interrupt the dominance, I didn’t want to interrupt the rhythm.”
The coach, who had criticized the scheduling on Friday evening because of the international matches with numerous Bayern professionals, actually wanted to change. He kept thinking about how he could bring Thomas Müller onto the field.
“I struggled a bit, I didn’t have any bright ideas,” admitted Tuchel. After the game he apologized: “I told the boys: This doesn’t normally happen. They shouldn’t hold it against me.”
