The Bobsleigh and Sled Association for Germany (BSD) is facing financial problems after the current winter. The logistics company DHL is leaving as the main sponsor for the 2024/25 season.
“We’ve had better times,” said board member Alexander Resch at a press conference on Friday in Dresden: “We have to compensate a six-figure, maybe seven-figure amount.”
The association is financially secure for the current season and the BSD is now “in discussions” with potential new partners.
Financially, however, we must also look at how costs can be saved this winter. “This is a huge challenge that we have to take on,” said Resch, who also attributed the deficits to the “enormous price development”.
