The clothing retailer Bonprix has appointed Matthias Wlaka as Chief Information Officer (CIO).
In the newly created position, “Bonprix’s IT activities will be centrally bundled, synchronized and controlled in the future,” the company, which belongs to the Hamburg trading and services group Otto Group, announced on Thursday.
According to the retailer, Wlaka will take up his new position on January 1st next year and will then also be a member of the Bonprix management team. He comes from the mail order company Otto, where he most recently worked as IT director.
Marcus Ackermann, who is responsible for multichannel distance selling on the parent company’s board of directors, explained the personnel decision: “In the Otto Group, Matthias Wlaka has impressively demonstrated his competence in managing highly complex technology issues within a business model,” explained Ackermann in a statement. “I am convinced that as the new CIO of our focus company Bonprix, he will significantly drive forward the IT and digitalization issues within the strategic transformation of the fashion brand.”
Bonprix CEO Richard Gottwald described the designated CIO as an “enrichment” for the retailer. “With him we will not only increase our technological clout, but we will also gain a strong leader and a great colleague who fits our corporate culture very well,” he emphasized.
