All remaining items from the bankrupt Big Bazar in the Marsdijk shopping center in Assen will be auctioned. The contents of the branch will be auctioned this week in order to raise some money.
After the bankruptcy on September 26, the curators found that the bargain chain had built up a debt of approximately 29 million euros. A restart of the Big Bazar stores turned out to be impossible. In Drenthe, Big Bazar had stores in Emmen, Assen, Meppel, Hoogeveen, Coevorden, Nieuw-Amsterdam and Klazienaveen.
Wall shelves, cash registers, scanners, and remaining stocks of cosmetics, jewelry, toys, crockery, food, household and party items will be auctioned from the store in Marsdijk. All Big Bazar stores have been kept open as long as possible, despite major payment problems for landlords since last summer.
While waiting for a solution, attempts were made for a while to sell as much of the store stock as possible at a discount. But at the end of last month a restart finally failed. And that is why rented shop premises must be emptied as quickly as possible. In Drenthe, the Asser branch in Marsdijk is the only one where items are now being auctioned.
