In the future, German table tennis will have open play for men and women.
At the Bundestag of the German Table Tennis Federation (DTTB) in Frankfurt, a corresponding change to the rules of the game was decided on Sunday (November 19, 2023) with more than 75 percent of the delegate votes.
In concrete terms, this means: After the new playing regulations have been adopted, there should be female and open play in the various leagues and official tournaments.
No change in one season
Every table tennis player has to decide on a competition before a new season or before the respective tournament. Playing for the women’s team and the mixed team during the same season should not be allowed. The German Table Tennis Association currently has around 554,000 active participants in more than 9,100 clubs.
