With their performance at the Eurovision Song Contest, Ilse DeLange and Waylon have sparked love between PVV MPs Fleur Agema and Léon de Jong. “We watched together.”
They have been a set together for quite a few years now: Fleur Agema and Léon de Jong, both of whom sit in the House of Representatives for the PVV. The two also met at the party, which is currently ranked number one in the Maurice de Hond poll shared first place stands with the VVD. “He was a colleague and I had a crush on him.”
PVV romance
Fleur explains Woman that she was initially a bit hesitant because of their six-year age difference. “A few years later, he stood at my desk and I thought: gosh, he’s turned out to be a nice man. I suppressed the thought because we are in the same party, and I thought: that is not right. He thought exactly the same.”
Ilse DeLange and Waylon then took care of their PVV romance. “Until that one evening of the Eurovision Song Contest with Waylon and Ilse DeLange. I was working at the House of Representatives and Geert (Wilders, ed.) texted: ‘What are you still doing there? It’s Saturday night, go do something fun with your life. Why don’t you go and watch the Eurovision Song Contest with Léon?’”

So it was teamwork, with Geert Wilders as Cupid and Ilse and Waylon as his accomplices. Fleur immediately thought it was a good idea: “Léon lived near the House of Representatives and I thought: I’m crazy that I’m still here! So I went to Léon…”
So they went to have a nice look at Ilse and Waylon. And one thing led to another. “We have never been apart since that night.”
Good tomatoes
It has not only given Fleur’s romantic life, but also her Burgundian life a major boost. “He really loves cooking and has taught me that the right products are very important in a meal. For example, I used to ‘just’ buy tomatoes for a recipe, but he can really scour the market for the best tomatoes.”
Does she notice anything about that? Yes. Her spaghetti bolognese will never be the same again. “That really makes a difference!”
