1,400 West Flemish foster families are currently temporarily housing around 1,700 foster children. But there are still 300 children and young people on the waiting list, sometimes for short-term care or for specific moments. “It is true that every child has different needs. If we were to suddenly find 300 families tomorrow, this does not mean that we can place all 300 children,” says Nelle Devisscher of Pleegzorg West Flanders.
The focus of Foster Care Week this year is on the diversity that Foster Care seeks from foster families.
Tomorrow there will be an information session about foster care at Hoeve Ter Kerst in Gits. All information and contacts can be found here fostercare.be.
