This weekend, the entourage of the Formula 1 motorsport premier class will be visiting the US gambling metropolis of Las Vegas for the penultimate race of the year. In the run-up to the Grand Prix, ex-F1 driver Timo Glock spoke to “WSM Casino” about a number of topics relating to the driving situation.
“Las Vegas will be very interesting,” Timo Glock opens his remarks at “WSM Casino” and explains: “I’m fascinated by the route and it will be exciting to see what the conditions are like. The temperatures and climate in Las Vegas can vary so much. There are years when it’s five degrees outside and others when it’s almost 20 degrees in the winter!”
The drivers would face an unusual challenge as they would have to worry about cold hands – “something an F1 driver can’t have!” said Glock. “I haven’t checked the weather forecasts, but I think there will be a lot of variables that can affect the race.”
Of course, the racing car that is available to them primarily influences the race of the respective starters. Glock would therefore like to see two “backbenchers” racing across the asphalt in a competitive car in the future: Nico Hülkenberg and Alexander Albon.
Glock: Formula 1 duel Hülkenberg against Verstappen “would be interesting”
“I would like to see Nico Hülkenberg in a team that gives him a chance for points or even a podium. It would also be great to see what Alexander Albon could do in one of the top teams. He has shown impressive performances at Williams , and he would seize the opportunity in a top team,” said the 41-year-old, who even believes the duo can stand up to dominator Max Verstappen: “It would also be interesting to see and observe one of these guys competing against Verstappen what they could do!”
According to Glock, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc could also face a change in air. Given the many mishaps at the Scuderia, the Monegasque will certainly ask himself whether he can ever have a real chance of fighting for the World Cup crown with the Reds, Glock speculates.
“Either the package isn’t quite right or there are too many mistakes in the team. Next year will be very important for him in terms of his future,” said Glock, who has been on the podium three times in his F1 career.
