Confused man may leave explosive behind in Dutch primary school, local residents must leave home | Abroad

A confused man may have left an explosive in a Dutch primary school this morning. Local residents must leave their homes in Oisterwijk to be on the safe side, our colleagues at the AD know. Children and teachers are safe outside, a police spokesperson said. The police are currently searching the building.

The police were called around 8 a.m. when the man walked into the school on Willem de Zwijgerlaan and started using threatening language. Two primary schools are located in the building: De Coppele and SBO Mozaik. It is not clear exactly which school the confused man entered. The police are looking for a man around 30 years old, he may be armed.

The police assume that the man is no longer present at the school. Officers therefore search outside the building, a police helicopter circles above Oisterwijk.

Suspicious object

The suspect may have left an explosive in the school building. Officers can see an object through the window. Pictures were taken through a window. Streets in the area were cordoned off after that discovery. The bomb squad has also arrived.

Immediately living nearby were told to leave their homes around 9:20 am. It is not clear at the moment where the residents can go. In the meantime, some went to walk the dog.
