According to a media report, those responsible at FC Bayern made a decision to sign Max Eberl as the new sports director at the eagerly awaited supervisory board meeting.
According to Bild, FC Bayern’s nine-member supervisory board has cleared the way for Max Eberl.
At the meeting on Monday afternoon in Munich, among other things, the question was discussed as to whether a new sports director was still needed after the appointment of sports director Christoph Freund on September 1st. The position has been vacant since Hasan Salihamidzic was fired.
The tendency of the Bayern bosses was that another strong man should be brought in to lead the club’s sporting fortunes. The report states that FC Bayern will now first approach Max Eberl, the internal favorite for this job. From now on, Eberl would be positioned above sports director Freund in the hierarchy.
FC Bayern has to dig into their pockets for Eberl
“Sky” reported on Monday evening that Eberl’s involvement with FC Bayern will “most likely” begin in the winter. The 50-year-old’s commitment is therefore planned for December, January or February. If Eberl actually moves to Munich, according to the broadcaster, five million euros will have to be transferred to RB Leipzig, where the manager is still under contract despite his release.
According to “Bild”, the Bavarian supervisory board went to dinner together at the restaurant after their groundbreaking meeting. Head coach Thomas Tuchel was also invited – a sign of his great influence in the club, according to the daily newspaper.
FC Bayern’s supervisory board includes club president Herbert Hainer, honorary president Uli Hoeneß, former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, vice president Prof. Dr. Dieter Mayer, the former Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Edmund Stoiber and Dr. Jan Heinemann (General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer adidas AG), Dr. Gernot Döllner (CEO Audi AG), Dr. Werner Zedelius (Senior Advisor Allianz SE) and Thorsten Langheim (Board Member Deutsche Telekom AG).
