David Alaba is already completing his third season at Real Madrid. Of course, the defender still has his eye on his former club FC Bayern.
“Yes, of course I always follow Bayern Munich,” Alaba revealed to “Sport1”: “And yes, things are going really well.”
The 31-year-old’s analysis: “They’ve had a very good season so far. Okay, the slip-up in the cup, but they’re really in the Champions League – and in the league too!”
FC Bayern is currently two points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. In the premier class, the Munich team qualified for the round of 16 after the first four group match days. In the DFB Cup, however, the German industry leader was embarrassed against third division team 1. FC Saarbrücken.
David Alaba: Real Madrid instead of FC Bayern
Alaba left FC Bayern for Real Madrid in the summer of 2021. The Royals are currently in second place in the Spanish league – behind surprise team FC Girona.
“We’re doing really well. We’re fully on track in the league, but also in the Champions League. Things are going really well so far, but there’s still a long season ahead of us. We want to pick up where we left off at the weekend have [5:1 gegen den FC Valencia, Anm.d.Red.]”, Alaba assessed his team’s performance so far.
David Alaba raves about the former BVB star
Jude Bellingham has played a major role in Real’s success. The central midfielder moved from Borussia Dortmund to the Spanish capital before the season.
“Of course very positive. Jude is a great boy, a world-class player! You could really see in the last few weeks and months what he’s capable of and how he has strengthened us,” Alaba praised the former BVB youngster.
