Yusuf Emir Bolat and his family, who were attacked with pepper gas by a passing cyclist while sitting on the street wearing a Trabzonspor jersey in Bursa, came to the city yesterday as the guest of Trabzonspor Club President Ertuğrul Doğan. Yusuf Emir Bolat and his family, who were the club’s special guests in the Konyaspor match, visited the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD) Trabzon Branch before the match.
HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE ATTACK HE EXPERIENCED
Explaining the attack he experienced to journalists, Bolat said, “I went to the sports school after the October 29 celebration was over. We were returning home after the match was over, when my friend Hamza called, we sat on the street and ate ice cream. After a while, a man came on a bicycle. I was wearing a Trabzonspor jersey. He approached us and asked me, ‘Are you from Trabzonspor? ‘ he said. I said ‘Yes’. He said ‘Trabzonspor is a loser’, he sprayed pepper gas in my eyes and ran away,” he said.
“ERTUĞRUL DOĞAN NEEDED TO TAKE A HAND”
Explaining what her son went through during the hospital stay and after the attack, Yusuf Emir’s mother, Sonay Baş, said, “It happened in front of the house where we have been living for years. Nothing like this has ever happened to us before. When we got into the ambulance, I saw that Yusuf started to turn blue. His blood pressure increased due to the fear and panic he experienced. He was the first to tell this to people.” When we explained it to him, he could not visualize such a scenario. I also watched and saw the incident on video at the police station. After my son’s treatment was completed, we were released from the hospital. 3 days later, while waiting for news about the person, President Ertuğrul Doğan called at around 10 at night and asked about Yusuf’s condition and whether the person was caught. Trabzonspor social media “After I shared it in the media, they started calling me from everywhere. It means that Ertuğrul Doğan had to take a hand in this matter,” he said.
“NO ONE SHOULD HARM CHILDREN”
Explaining that President Doğan invited them to the Konyaspor match and their visit to the city, mother Sonay Baş said, “We were very happy when President Doğan called us the next day and invited us to the Konyaspor match. We came yesterday, it was a very nice welcome. Last night, we went to the facilities and met the football players, played with the ball. “They did it. I took Yusuf around the city square, everyone who saw him wanted to take a photo, saying ‘You are our hero.’ Thanks to Yusuf, I am realizing my own childhood dream. No one should harm children, children should always laugh,” he said.
