The Dakar has announced its provisional list of entries for the next edition, which will begin on January 5 in the desert of Saudi Arabia. At the moment, the rally organizers have more than 100 motorcycles and 71 cars in the two main categories, in addition to another 77 participants between the T3 and T4 classes, and 46 trucks, for a total of 362 vehicles in the race.
With less than two months left until the Dakar caravan gets underway, the presence of the rally’s stars stands out, with the current champion Nasser Al-Attiyah at the helm, along with Stéphane Peterhansel, Carlos Sainz, Nani Roma, Sébastien Loeb, Giniel de Villiers, Yazeed Al-Rajhi, Isidre Esteve, Laia Sanz, Pau Navarro and Manolo Plaza. In motorcycles, Joan Barreda changes scene and leaves the Honda structure to join Hero. There are notable absences such as Joan Pedrero, Franco Caimi or Daniel Nosiglia.
It is among the light cars, the T3 and T4, that the bulk of the Spanish participation is concentrated, with fifteen drivers, with Cristina Gutiérrez and Gerard Farrés, among others. In trucks, six Spanish teams are registered and the Andorran Albert Llovera, who returns to the fray.
