National coach Ronald Koeman has included Jorrel Hato in the selection of the Dutch national team for the matches against Ireland and Gibraltar. The 17-year-old Ajax player made his debut for the Dutch Juniors two months ago.
Rotterdam-born Hato made his first minutes for Ajax in February this year at the age of 16. Trainer John Heitinga brought him on in the away match against Cambuur (0-5) in the 73rd minute as a replacement for Owen Wijndal. He played a total of eleven games that season. This season, the defender has already started eleven times in the Premier League and has also played six European games. He was not substituted once.
Hato was not in Koeman’s pre-selection. Former AZ player Teun Koopmeiners has also received an invitation, although he was missing from the pre-selection. Dropouts include Matthijs de Ligt and Micky van de Ven who were recently injured. A total of 25 players have been called up and will report to Zeist next Monday.
The Dutch team will play against Ireland on Saturday, November 18 in the Arena and away against Gibraltar on Tuesday, November 21
