The city of Bruges therefore denies that they have swept the asbestos problem under the rug. All permanent staff have been gone since 2020, but new damage to the roof has changed the problem. The warehouse served as a storage space, where street furniture and road salt were stored, but it has now been decided to no longer use the garage and its contents. A specialized company has been appointed to remove the asbestos.
