A month after Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel, several hundred people commemorated the victims at Pariser Platz on Tuesday evening, according to police.

The German-Israeli Society, among others, called for the joint remembrance at the Brandenburg Gate. The event was also registered with the police using the hashtag #NieWiederIstNow.

Candles in the shape of a Star of David and the date of the attack were placed in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The police said there were around 400 people on site and that things were initially trouble-free.

During the commemoration, recordings of the sirens that could be heard on the morning of October 7th were also played – and recordings of telephone conversations between the victims of the terrorist attack, for example with the police. In addition to a minute’s silence, there were prayers for those killed, for the hostages held by Hamas and for those injured in the attack. Some participants were wrapped in Israeli flags.

Terrorists from the Islamist Hamas and other extremist Palestinian organizations carried out the worst massacre in Israel’s history on October 7th. On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people were killed in the following days, including many women, children and young people.

The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip has risen to 10,328 since the war began a month ago, according to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry. The numbers cannot currently be independently verified.
