All points earned are determined by the number of participating clubs. The Bundesliga clubs have so far scored 44,500 points, divided by seven clubs this gives a value of 6,357. The two countries that occupy the top two places at the end of the season will receive an additional place in the Champions League.

No other space will be deducted. For the Bundesliga, that would mean five participants in the Champions League, two in the Europa League and one in the playoffs for the Europa Conference League. The two places are played anew every season and are distributed regardless of UEFA’s five-year ranking. This is relevant for the usual places.

Points are as follows:

Champions League:

  • 2 points: All wins from the group stage onwards

The Champions League will be fundamentally reformed for the 2024/25 season

The Champions League is getting a new mode for the new season. The most important key points of the reform:

  • Play in the future 36 instead of 32 teams with.
  • Of the four additional places one goes to fifth place in the five-year ranking (most recently France). In addition, another team qualified from the qualification.
  • What is new, as explained above, is the allocation of the two additional places: the two countries, who collectively perform best in Europe within a seasonwill receive another place in the Champions League the following season.
  • Instead of playing in group games in a league played, there is a large table with 36 teams.
  • Each team plays against eight different teams and has four home and four away games.
  • The The first eight in the table at the end of the league phase reach the round of 16. The following 16 teams are in a knockout round for the other eight places in the round of 16, the rest are eliminated.
  • In the round of 16 The clubs are placed in the tournament tree according to their table positionwhich is similar to the approach used in tennis tournaments.
  • A Relegation to the Europa League is no longer possiblethat’s only possible in qualification.
